چکیده

This paper presents the effect of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on Conventional Concrete (Silica Fume Based M30 Grade Concrete). The Silica Fume Based M30 Grade Concrete was prepared by adding NaCl concentrations of 0.5,2,4,6,8,10 and 12 g/l i n deionised water. In addition to this, control specimen was prepared with deionised water (without NaCl) for the purpose of co mpari son . The tensile strength and compressive strength were evaluated for 28 and 90 days. The results show that as NaCl concentration increases compressive strength of silica fume based M30 grade concrete increases as the concentration of NaCl goes up at both 28 and 90 days only up to some extent. But the increase in the concentrations of Nacl has detrimental effect on the setting time of concrete after certain increase in the NaCl concentrations. Compressive strengths and Split tensile strength of Conventional Concrete show increases when compared with controlled specimen. Keywords-Silica fume, NaCl , Initial and final setting time, Compressive strength, Split tensile Strength.

Fly ash/Kaolin based geopolymer green concretes and their mechanical properties

Geopolymer concrete mixes were cast using fly ash, kaolin, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, sodium silicate and aggregates. Portland cement concrete (M30) was used as a reference sample. The effect of silica fume, temperature (40 °C, 60 °C, 80 °C, 100 °C and 120 °C), sodium and potassium hydroxides and different superplasticizers on the compressive strength are reported [1]. Maximum stren...

Mechanical Properties of Concrete Composites with Replacement of Class C Fly Ash and Silicafume

The results of experimental investigations on the study of concrete with partial replacement of cement are presented in this paper. The concrete grade of M30 has been selected and designed as per Indian Standard method. The specimens based on control mix have been cast without fly ash and silica fume. Cement was replaced by 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and 60% of fly ash by the weight. 20 % of s...

Effect of Limestone Powder on Compressive Strength of Concrete Containing Silica Fume and Optimization of Mix Design Using Response Surface Method

Silica fume has been largely used in concrete in recent decades due to its effect on improvement of strength and durability of concrete. On the other hand, attention has been recently paid to the use of limestone powder as a substitute for part of cement in concrete, basically because of its low price and its positive effect on the durability of concrete. The aim of the current study is the i...

Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of M30 Concrete with Partial Replacement of Cement and Fine Aggregate with Silica Fume and Copper Slag

The present investigation revealed the effect of using silica fume and copper slag as a partial replacement of cement and fine aggregate, respectively on the mechanical properties of the concrete. Due to the depletion of natural sand resource worldwide with the increment of industrial waste, simultaneously, partial replacements of fine aggregate with copper slag have been attempted. Therefore, ...
